Hamburg Sud Christens Fifth 7,100-TEU Ship

Hamburg Sud christened the Santa Catarina, the fifth of 10 ships with capacities of 7,100 20-foot equivalent container that the German carrier is adding by mid-2012.   The new ship has been operating since March in Hamburg Sud’s Good Hope service covering Asia, South Africa and the East Coast of South America.   Each of the new ships has plugs for 1,600 TEUs of refrigerated containers.   The Journal of Commerce Online
