OOCL to Raise Rates From Asia to Australia

3/15/2012 10:46:30 AM

OOCL has extended its round of global freight rate increases to include southbound services on the North and East Asia to Australia trade.

Starting April 15, rates will increase by $300 per 20-foot equivalent unit from all ports in the region. OOCL has now announced rate increases across most of the world’s major container trade lanes.

From April 1 cargo moving southbound to Australia from Southeast Asia, including from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East, will be subject to a $200 per TEU rate hike.

On the same date rates on trans-Atlantic trades moving via Canada’s ports will be increased by $320 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
