MAERSK Line has added a two-way Black Sea string on to its East Mediterranean-Middle East-India (ME-3) service to extend the port coverage to Novorossisk in Russia, as well acting a feeder to Istanbul, Ambarli, Izmit Korfezi, Izmit and Korfezi.
The new ME-3 port rotation is Port Said, Mersin, Ambarli, Izmit, Novorossisk, Izmit, Ambarli, Port Said, Jeddah, Jebel Ali, Pipavav, Hazira, Nhava Sheva, Jebel Ali, Salalah, and back to Port Said.
The first ME-3 Novorossisk call is scheduled for September 13. The capacity of the ME-3 service was recently increased from the 3,600 TEU ships to the 4,500 TEU vessels, reports Alphaliner.
The rotation has also been increased by one week from six to seven weeks due to the changes; and a seventh ship, the 5,060 TEU SCT Zurich, has been added.
The container shipping line also operates a Black Sea string connecting Izmit and Ambarl to Novorossisk through the fruit-oriented Ecumed service. Ecumed ships are handled at the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port facility, while the ME-3 ships will be handled at the NUTEP terminal operated by Novorossisk Nodal Transporting and Forwarding Company.
