APL adds US East Coast to Central American service

6/21/2007 10:26:41 AM

APL is expanding its commitment to US-Central America trade with the addition of a third vessel string with fixed weekly sailings to compliment its existing CAX and MCX service.

The first voyage of the Central America East Coast service (CAE) will commence Northbound from Acajutla, El Salvador, on July 3rd, calling at Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala on July 4th, Corinto, Nicaragua, on July 5th, and arriving in New York on July 10th to begin its first southbound voyage.

Carlos Velez, APL’s vice president of the Latin American region, said the decision to add an all-water product to its Central American service was driven by the region’s growth potential, especially in the clothing, consumer goods and refrigerated cargo sectors.
