Cathay Pacific to add Houston, Miami to cargo network

Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways said today it will add Houston and Miami to its global freighter network in September.   Subject to final government approval, the airline will start a thrice-weekly service using a Boeing 747-400 Freighter, departing Hong Kong every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The service will fly to Miami, via Anchorage, and then on to Houston. The return flight will again be routed through Anchorage on its way back to Hong Kong.   Miami and Houston will give Cathay Pacific a total of eight U.S. cargo hubs. Dallas and Atlanta were the last U.S. destinations added in November 2005.   "Miami is the leading gateway to South and Central America while Houston is an important centre for the oil business," said Ron Mathison, Cathay Pacific director and general manager cargo. "Both cities will boost our network and provide better access and connectivity for our customers between Asia and North America via our home hub in Hong Kong."   American Shipper
