Cathay increases Saudi services, decreases others

7/27/2009 9:12:08 AM

Cathay Pacific Airways said it will start flights to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s second major commercial city, from Oct. 25.

The four-times-weekly service will operate through Dubai on the way to and from Hong Kong and will be operated with an Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

Cathay Pacific launched its service to Saudi Arabia capital Riyadh in 2001 and the number of flights per week to and from that city will also be increased from five weekly to daily from Aug. 1.

The airline also said it is reducing the numbers of services to Brisbane from 10 to seven per week, and to San Francisco from 14 to 11 per week. Flights to Paris will also drop from 10 to seven per week starting Sept. 1, though the airline will increase that temporarily to 10 flights between Dec. 18 and Jan. 6.
