Chinese flag carrier Air China said it has agreed to buy 20 new Boeing 737-800 planes to expand its fleet to meet growing demand, Dow Jones reported.
Air China said the jets' combined list price is US$1.4 billion but it didn't provide the actual purchase price.
The planes are due to be delivered between 2013 and 2015.
"The transaction will strengthen the fleet capacity of the company with an increase of approximately five percent," Air China said.
"In particular, the transaction will reinforce the company's market share in the domestic market, and will also increase frequency of flights for a number of domestic and neighbouring international routes," it added.
