MOL Hikes Far East-India Rates

Japanese ocean carrier MOL will seek a new round of rate increases on cargo moving from the Far East to the Indian Subcontinent, as part of a rate restoration program.   MOL's rate restoration, to be implemented in two stages, will boost rates on shipments from the Far East (excluding Japan) by $100 per 20-foot container as of Sept. 15, followed by a $250 per-TEU hike on shipments from Japan as of Oct. 1.   The Subcontinent region includes ports in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
