Hong Kong's airport's cargo volumes fell in September as exports dropped, reported Dow Jones Newswires.
Airport Authority Hong Kong, which operates Hong Kong's international airport, said cargo throughput fell 6.1 percent to 325,000 metric tonnes from 346,000 tonnes a year earlier.
The decline in cargo throughput was mainly due to a 10 percent decrease in exports and a six percent fall in import volumes during the month, the airport operator said.
Europe, North America and Taiwan reported double-digit declines in overall cargo traffic.
However, transhipment volumes grew five percent during the same period.
In the January-September period, cargo throughput was down 3.9 percent at 2.9 million tonnes. Cargonews Asia
