Hapag-Lloyd to Raise Rates from East Asia

Hapag-Lloyd will raise its rates on East Asia services as part of its new rate restoration program.

The German ocean carrier said rates from East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Persian Gulf will go up by $400 per 20-foot container, effective April 1.

Rates on all cargo from East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Red Sea region will attract an increase of $300 per 20-foot container, starting April 1.

From East Asia (excluding Japan) and Oceania to the Indian subcontinent, the increase will be $400 per 20-foot container, starting April 15. The subcontinent region includes ports in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The increase on all cargo from East Asia to the Caribbean and Panama will be $560 per 20-foot container and $800 per 40-foot container, effective April 15.

From East Asia to the west coast of South America, Central America and Mexico, rates will increase by $500 per 20-foot container, also starting April 15.
