BA World Cargo has announced the addition of Tbilisi, Georgia to its existing London - Cologne - Shanghai 747-400 freighter service. The new weekly Monday routing (London-Cologne-Tbilisi-Shanghai) launches with Coyne Airways as the major customer. The carrier anticipates adding around 60-80 tonnes of cargo per flight under this new agreement.
Warren Tempest, Revenue Development manager, Freighters, Asia Pacific and Southern, BA World Cargo said "This additional freighter stop makes sound business sense for both parties and crucially allows us to pick up meaningful cargo - predominantly oil and gas equipment and heavy machinery - for the eastbound leg of Far East-Europe services. The east-west trade imbalance remains a very real issue for all carriers but our network strength and flexibility ensures that we are in an excellent position to go some way to addressing the disparity."
