Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores will modify the northbound rotation of its U.S. Gulf service by introducing a direct call at Cartagena, Colombia, in replacement of Caucedo, Dominican Republic.
The first sailing with the new port rotation will be the Suape Express, voyage 1316, with an estimated arrival in Cartagena on June 10.
The U.S. Gulf service deploys eight 5,500 20-foot-equivalent unit vessels on a weekly basis, providing transportation from Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil to Colombia, Mexico, the U.S. Gulf Coast and the Dominican Republic.
This modification gives customers direct access to Cartagena for their cargoes from South America’s east coast, as well as better alternatives to connect cargo from South America’s east coast to Venezuela, Central America and the Caribbean, and from Colombia and South America’s west coast to the U.S. Gulf Coast, CSAV said in a written statement.
Separately, the Chilean shipping company said it will suspend its regular direct call at Bandar Abbas, Iran, on its Galex Sling 1 service. The last vessel accepting cargo from Asia to Iran will be the Mayssan, voyage 1321W and 1321E, with an estimated time of arrival in Bandar Abbas on June 17.
