IAG to start new Latin American cargo route

8/14/2013 8:59:37 AM

IAG Cargo will launch a thrice-weekly Airbus 340-600 route between Quito and Iberia's Madrid hub on Oct. 26.

The carrier already flies a Madrid-Quito-Guayaquil-Madrid routing, but a new facility in Madrid that recently opened will allow it to fly the large A340 into the airport. The current routing will switch from seven times a week to a four-times-a-week service.

IAG officials expect perishable goods, such as Ecuadorian flower exports, to be the main cargo on the flights.
