Mediterranean Shipping Co. has announced the launch of a new container service between Asia and West Africa, starting at the end of this month.
The Geneva-based carrier is using 10 ships with capacities of around 4,000 20-foot-equivalent units on the Africa Express Service.
The port rotation is as follows: Nansha, Chiwan, Singapore, Port Louis, Lagos (Tin Can Island), San Pedro, Abidjan, Coega, Colombo, Singapore and back to Nansha.
MSC said the new service facilitates direct loading to West Africa without transshipment over the Mediterranean, with improved transit times to Lagos of 28 days from Chiwan and 23 days from Singapore.
The first sailing from Nansha is scheduled for April 24.
