6/10/2014 9:07:42 AM

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus booked orders for 70 commercial airliners in May, mainly from Southeast Asian airlines.

During the month, the company took an order from Singapore's TigerAir for 37 A320neo aircraft, the new-engine version of the jet, the company said, reported Dow Jones Newswires.

Royal Brunei Airlines ordered seven of the same model during the month, it added.

Other customers in May included US-based Delta Airlines and Air New Zealand.

The number of planes ordered surpassed the 55 it delivered during the month, Airbus said.

Over the first five months of the year, Airbus has booked net orders from 203 airliners.
