Work on the deep sea JadeWeserPort at Wilhelmshaven is to start this summer, following planning approval for the project, granted on Tuesday.
Planning permission was granted by the Waterways-and Shipping Director at Northwest, with an order for immediate execution, said Lower Saxony’s Minister of Economics, Walter Hirche.
Citing the arrival of “Emma-Maersk” sized ships in the container trade, Mr Hirche said, “The future of container shipping has already started, making it all the more important that we can commence operations at the deep-sea terminal in Wilhelmshaven punctually in the year 2010.”
