Lufthansa Cargo had added a third weekly freight flight from Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW) to Frankfurt, Germany. The move comes on the heels of 14-percent growth in the carrier’s import and export volumes for 2006.
It marks the third new European-bound cargo flight added within the past year at DFW. The airport said it has seen significant European growth over the past 12 months, driven by Lufthansa's new flight to Frankfurt as well as non-stop flights to Paris and Brussels on Air France Cargo and Singapore Cargo, respectively. The enhancements are due in part to steady economic growth in North Texas, the airport said. Lufthansa Cargo will fly the added non-stop route between Frankfurt and DFW each Wednesday, deploying an MD-11F freighter with a capacity of approximately 85 tons. The new flight complements existing Friday and Sunday service.
