Mediterranean Shipping Co. has plans to change its East Africa port rotation.
The container line will offer a call at Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on a weekly sailing with improved connectivity to Zanzibar and Tanga, Tanzania.
The new port rotation will be as follows: Coega and Durban, South Africa; Mombasa, Kenya; Dar es Salaam; Beira, Mozambique; and back to Coega. The first vessel will be the Jasmine, V-ZN319A.
MSC will also implement a rate increase on all cargo for the Panda and Wallaby services from the Far East to any Australian port. Effective July 1, the hike will be $100 per 20-foot-equivalent unit, and starting July 15, the increase will be $200 per TEU.
