After a hiatus of a year, short-sea service between the ports of Halifax, Nova Scotia; Portland M.E., Portsmouth, N.H. and Boston will resume this summer.
The Icelandic shipping line Eimskip said it plans to launch the new service in the first week of July.
The weekly New England-Canada Express Short-Sea Service will replace the service that was operated by the Canadian carrier Halship until July, 2006 when the company went into receivership.
Eimskip has chartered the 384-TEU Seaboard Navigator to provide the service. The vessel is also equipped to carry up to 60 refrigerated containers.
The rotation will be Boston (Monday); Portsmouth (Tuesday); Portland (Wednesday); Cerescorp, Halifax (Thursday); Halterm, Halifax (Friday).
