Maersk Line is set to raise rates by a minimum of US$118 per TEU on all services from Europe to Australia and New Zealand from October 1.
This includes all ships from Scandinavia, Baltic Sea, North and Central Europe, United Kingdom and Ireland, Mediterranean, North Africa and the Black Sea.
Maersk cited the drop in rates over the past two years coupled with increased operating costs as the main reason for the rate hike.
Current rates are around $350 cheaper per FEU than in 2006.
Furthermore, Maersk Line have joined hands with MCC Transport to launch a direct weekly service connecting China with Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Port rotation on the Intra Asia Service 4 (IA-4) will take 21 days and cover the ports of Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Port Klang, Jakarta and Hong Kong.
