European carrier Air France-KLM has agreed a global joint venture deal with US carrier Delta including flights over the Atlantic between Europe and the USA, sharing revenues and costs.
The new deal gives the two carriers control of about 25 per cent of the industry's total transatlantic capacity with around US$12 billion in revenues.
It will involve more than 200 transatlantic flights and about 50,000 seats daily, the carriers say.
The deal’s global geographic scope also covers all flights between North America and Europe, between Amsterdam and India and between North America and Tahiti.
The Air France group has just reported a loss of EUR505 million for the last quarter and now is planning to cut another 3,000 jobs in addition to 2,700 previously announced.
