China Railway No.6 Group has won a US$350.57 million contract to build an urban railway system in Hanoi, according to Vietnam's Ministry of Planning and Investment, Dow Jones reported.
The company will design and build the 13.5-kilometer railway system and provide 52 railway cars within a period of five years, the ministry said in a statement.
The railway, which will run from Hanoi's downtown centre to Ha Dong district to the southwest, will cost $552.86 million to build.
Most of the funds needed for the project come from soft loans from China.
