Russia’s first container terminal at St. Petersburg, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, reported that throughput in the first 11 months of the year amounted to 806,745 TEU, 22.8 percent up year on year, according to a report in the Warsaw-based Railway Market Magazine.
In November alone, the terminal in north-western Russia handled 81,223, an increase of 26.8 percent over the same month in 2005; and during the same month the facility also moved 8,803 TEU reefers, a year-on-year rise of 23.4 percent.
The report pointed out that the total box throughput between January and November comprised of 37,730 outgoing TEU and 43,493 incoming TEU.
During the 11 months, the terminal serviced 61 vessels.
