Effective November 28th, all international shipments carried by DHL to any part of Galicia will now be dealt with by DHL’s own import customs office in Santiago de Compostela.
Prior to this change of service, all DHL’s shipments into Galicia were managed by the customs office in Vitoria, the head office for incoming and outgoing airfreight in Spain, Portugal, the South of France and North Africa.
This new step follows DHL’s recent decision to improve infrastructure and services in Galacia. In October, DHL doubled its load capacity at Santiago Airport with a new, more spacious aircraft.
DHL has operated at Santiago Airport since 1996, and handles more than 120 tons a month via two daily flights linked via Vitoria to the carrier’s distribution routes for Spain and Portugal and with international connections.
In June this year, DHL opened its new facility for the province of Pontevedra in Vigo, equipped to classify 2,700 packages an hour.
DHL has installations in all of the Galician provinces, located in A Coruña, Santiago, Vigo, Lugo and Ourense.
