2/22/2014 8:26:07 AM

TAIWAN's Evergreen Line is to merge its NUE and AUE services covering the Asia/US east coast trade via Panama from mid-May.

The new service will deploy seven 4,200-TEUers as well as three in the 5,090 TEU range and will rotate through Shenzhen-Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Ningbo, Shanghai (via Panama), Colon, Charleston, Baltimore, Colon and back to Yantian.

Of note, existing calls further north on the US east coast at New York (NUE and AUE) and Norfolk (NUE) are being dropped in favour of Charleston and Baltimore.

First sailing eastbound on the newly merged service is scheduled to be made from Yantian on May 14 by the 5,090-TEU Ital Libera, arriving at Charleston on June 14 and Baltimore on June 16.

Evergreen plans to continue to serve Norfolk and New York in a different service structure at a later date.
