K-Line will begin a new North China–Straits service in May, a new Asia-South America East Coast service in June, and has announced plans to establish Singapore’s first dedicated automobile terminal.
K-Line’s new North China-Straits service is expected to being end-May. The service responds to growing demand for capacity between China and ASEAN countries, and will also act as a feeder service to connect with the shipping line’s global service network at Singapore and Pusan.
Jaseco-2 (K-Line / RCL joint loop):
Three x 2,000 TEU vessels will call at the following ports: Qingdao > Pusan > Shanghai > Hong Kong > Singapore > Manila (North Harbour) > Manila (South Harbour) > Qingdao
Jaseco-3 (RCL loop):
Three x 2,500 TEU vessels will call at the following ports: Xingang > Qingdao > Pusan > Singapore > Hong Kong > Shanghai > Xingang
K-Line’s new weekly container service connecting Asia with the East Coast of South America will begin in June, through a co-operation with Compania SudAmericana de Vapores (CSAV). This new service will meet increasing market demand between Asia, especially China, and the South American East Coast.
Ports of call: Ningbo > Shanghai > Chiwan > Hong Kong > Singapore > Buenos Aires > Paranagua > Itajai > Santos > Durban > Singapore > Ningbo
K-Line currently operates a US East Coast-South America East Coast service, and recently launched North Europe-East Coast South America service. The new service will enhance its container service network over East Coast South America region.
In other news, K-Line, PSA Singapore Terminals and NYK have agreed on a contract for establishing the first dedicated automobile terminal at PSA Singapore Terminals.
The new joint venture – Asia Automobile Terminal Singapore (AATS) – will establish and operate a dedicated terminal for automobiles using two berths at PSA’s Pasir Panjang Terminal.
PSA, which provides transhipping for finished automobiles for export from Asian countries, is a very important harbour in Asia for K-Line’s finished-automobile transport service.
The new JV will enable K-Line to respond to demand in Asian countries, which is expected to increase rapidly in the future.
