THROUGHPUT of Ukrainian seaports was down nine per cent to 10.67 million tonnes in January as container volume slipped 0.5 per cent to 52,296 TEU, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority announced.
State stevedores under the Ministry of Infrastructure handled 3.2 million tonnes or 30.6 per cent, while private stevedores handled 7.4 million or 69.4 per cent of total volume.
Transshipment of export cargo increased 0.6 per cent year on year to 7,479,000 tonnes with import transshipment falling 27.8 per cent to 910,000 tonnes, according to PortNews of St Petersburg.
Transit cargo was down 24 per cent to 2.2 million tonnes while the coastal trade was off 40 per cent to 43,000 tonnes.
