AUTHORITIES in the mainland China port of Rizhao in Shandong province plan to invest CNY1.08 billion (US$139.73 million) to build a total of five berths in the west of the Shijiu port area, Xinhua reports.
Two of the berths will each have a capacity of 50,000 tons, while the three other berths will be smaller with an individual handling capacity of 35,000 tons.
The berths are expected to have a total quay length of 1,130 metres and bring six million tons of additional cargo handling capacity to the port of Rizhao.
