MCC Transport Singapore Pte Ltd, the intra-Asia arm of Denmark's APM-Maersk, has announced the launch of its new intra-Asia 3 service (IA-3) that set sail on August 13 from Tanjung Pelepas.
The weekly IA-3 service is operated on a 21 day rotation using three 1,100-TEU vessels, and calls at the ports in the following sequential order of: Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Kuching, Muara, Kota Kinabalu, General Santos, Davao City, returning to Tanjung Pelepas.
The south-bound sailing ex General Santos is departed on August 19 and ex Davao on August 22.
A report by Alphaliner said the new loop has been created by combining the shipping line's East Malaysia & Brunei feeder service (ensured every 10 days) with the Straits-Philippines feeder 3 (PHI 3) service (ensured every 14 days).
It added that the new IA-3 loop is 'taken from the feeder service covering the Indonesia ports of Surabaya and Semarang, which continues to be operated as it is, jointly with Evergreen, despite having lost its MCC's IA-3 appellation.'
