3/29/2013 8:49:44 AM

SINGAPORE's Changi Airport handled 126,500 tonnes of air freight in February, representing a year-on-year decline of 12.1 per cent with authorities blaming the late arrival of Chinese New Year which skewed most February statistics.

Year-to-date, cargo movements have declined five per cent to 266,800 tonnes.

On the other hand, passenger movements rose 9.2 per cent in February compared year on year to 4.12 million passenger movements. Aircraft movements for the month grew 4.2 per cent to 25,900 flights.

Passenger movements rose by 5.3 per cent to 8.44 million in the first two months of the year, with aircraft movements growing by a corresponding 3.2 per cent year-on-year to 54,100, a release said.
