Container Volume Soars at Georgia Ports

The Georgia Ports Authority moved 274,362 20-foot-equivalent units in October, up 19 percent year-over-year and 5 percent month-over-month. In the first four months of fiscal 2014, the GPA moved 1.1 million TEUs, representing a 5 percent increase compared with the same period last year.   Port of Savannah's throughput over the last 12 months. Georgia ports moved a record 2.54 million tons of general cargo in October, a 22 percent jump from October 2012, driven by record movements of automobiles and heavy machinery at Colonel’s Island Terminal at the Port of Brunswick and Ocean Terminal at Port of Savannah.
