Maersk Line has made its maiden call at Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal (KPCT) recently.
The service covers the ports of Chennai, KPCT, Visakhapatnam, Tanjung Pelepas, Qingdao, Xingang and Shanghai.
Maersk’s CHX service inaugural call was done by Jervis bay which has a length of 292.15m, a gross tonnage of 50,350 tonnes and a capacity of 4,226 TEUs.
KPCT to date was connected through fixed day services provided by Bengal Tiger Line (BTL) to Port Klang/Singapore and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) to global ports through Colombo.
Realising the potential of KPCT, XCL (Xpress Feeders) also extended their TCX service with once in a 21-day rotation call to KPCT. This new service began on January 26, with ports of call being Chennai, KPCT, Penang, Port Klang, Singapore and Laem Chabang.
